FLOW Church Study Groups: Real Community, Real Growth

At FLOW Church, we believe life change happens in small circles, not just large gatherings. That’s why our Study Groups (SGs) are at the heart of our ministry. As we grow larger in global reach, we grow smaller through intentional, personal connection—one group, one conversation, and one prayer at a time.

Our Study Groups aren’t just a program; they’re the life blood of our church. We’re not a church with small groups—we are a church of small groups. Each one is designed to help you build authentic relationships, dive deeper into God’s Word, and walk out your faith with people who genuinely care about you.

What is a Study Group (SG)?

A Study Group is a small gathering—no more than 10 families—that meets regularly (typically weekly, but the schedule is flexible) to discuss the sermon from the previous Sunday. Led by a trained SG Leader and supported by an SG Assistant who is being mentored to lead a future group, these sessions are where spiritual transformation, personal connection, and practical support come together.

Each week, our SG Coordinator sends out five carefully crafted discussion questions based on the Sunday sermon. These questions serve as conversation starters to help each group go beyond just listening to the Word and start living it.

What Happens During a Study Group Meeting?

Study Group meetings are warm, casual, and uplifting. Whether you join by phone or video, from your car, living room, or office, you’ll find a welcoming space where you’re seen, heard, and valued.

Here’s a typical SG flow:

  • Opening Prayer – Led by the SG Leader or a volunteer

  • Life Check-In – Everyone is asked how their day or week has been. We celebrate exciting moments and share testimonies.

  • Support & Prayer Requests – We talk about challenges, offer support, and commit to praying for each other.

  • Discussion Time – The five SG questions are read aloud, and everyone is invited to respond, reflect, or ask questions.

  • Community Announcements – Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, holidays, and church-wide updates are shared.

  • Closing Prayer – We end the meeting by lifting each other up in prayer.

Each meeting lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, and members can participate as much or as little as they want. You're welcome to just listen in, or you can jump into the conversation when you're ready. Either way, you're part of the family.

Flexible & Accessible

FLOW Church Study Groups meet at various times throughout the week—including mornings, evenings, and weekends—so you can find the group that best fits your lifestyle. We offer:

  • Phone access for those who prefer to call in

  • Video options for face-to-face interaction

  • Anonymity for those who are more comfortable listening quietly

  • Open communication outside meeting times—your SG Leader is available via text, phone, or video chat for prayer, questions, or personal support

Whether you're in a different time zone, traveling, or managing a busy schedule, there's a Study Group you can be part of.

Built for Connection, Designed for You

Study Groups are more than just weekly meetings—they're your personal community within FLOW Church. While our overall church family continues to grow into the thousands, SGs ensure that you never feel like just another face in the crowd.

Your SG Leader is your direct point of contact within the church. Need prayer? Have a question? Facing a life challenge? Want to celebrate a win? Your group is there for you.

We call this our “big church, small feel” model—and it works. Through our SGs, every member gets the spiritual, emotional, and practical support they need to thrive.

From Bible Study to Real Life: Interest-Based SGs

Coming soon, FLOW Church will expand Study Groups to include interest-based groups that blend biblical discussion with shared passions. Members will be able to join or start groups around:

  • Moms

  • Married couples

  • Book lovers

  • Bikers

  • Fitness & wellness

  • Fantasy sports

  • Creative arts

  • And more!

If you and at least four other FLOW members share a passion—and your group starts with prayer, aligns with the values of FLOW Church, and uplifts Jesus—you’re good to go. Groups can be seasonal or ongoing, casual or structured. We encourage every member to plug into at least one weekly Bible Study SG and optionally join an interest-based SG that brings fun and fellowship into your faith journey.

Why Join a Study Group?

If you’re wondering why SGs matter, consider this:

  • They give you a safe place to grow spiritually

  • They offer real community—people who will walk with you through every season

  • They make a large church feel personal

  • They help you apply the Word of God to your actual life

  • They connect you to leaders and mentors who care deeply

  • They empower you to give and receive through the 5Ts—Time, Trust, Talent, Thanks, and Treasure
